Soaking Up The Son

We’ve had three days of gorgeous 80+ degree weather. I and many others are donning sunburns. The kids played in the sprinkler and thoroughly enjoyed the sunshine.

And today it will go back to being gray and in the 60’s. Sometimes our Christian walk can be as fickle as the weather forecast. We feel amazing when we bask in the son light and less so when we wander about without him as the focus of our daily lives.

Have you ever spent time with the Lord where you didn’t walk away feeling awed, refreshed, or content? Getting alone with the Lord, praying and studying His word is like our bodies getting the much needed vitamin D from the sun, only our vitamin D is Dependable.

God’s word is dependable. Always. Absolute. When we take the time to focus and let Him be our center, son shine infuses our lives and keeps us growing in the right direction.

For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, 10 so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11 being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, 12 and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you[f]to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light. 13 For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:9-14

Have you spent time with the Lord today? What’s holding you back? If you did spend time with Him, what did He reveal to you?

  1. I really needed to hear those verses today! Really, really did. Feeling a little fatalistic today. 🙁

  2. On your question, “Have you ever spent time with the Lord where you didn’t walk away feeling awed, refreshed, or content”? I only have one answer: no, not ever.

You were asking what Jesus was revealing…

We went to the oncologist meeting yesterday as a general ‘where-are-we-at’ and ‘where-are-we-going’ discussion. Repeatedly, the Doctor said how unbelievablely blessed we were. In fact, this usually nimble speaker was stumbling to put into words the amazing odds that we received in our staging. It’s very, very, very early.

A miracle. The doctor finally said it because that was what our outcome is. When you get a miracle, what is there to do but worship? God cares about the big problems of the seemingly insignificant people on the earth. Thank You LORD! If you were wondering if God still heals in our day, YES He does!

The temptations to focus on sub-par grades from the kids, the housework woes fade away. God heard us and said ‘Yes”.

I see many situations that need God’s touch. Circumstances don’t always reveal their true natures. Some things look good on the outside and inwardly poison. Some events seem so harsh and yet grow us up into blessing after blessing. Sitting for a long time in the waiting room of other cancer patients who desperately need relief, pointed me back to my faith. I can pray for them. The new confidence that I have in my faith is that God can help them too. It’s not about relief from problems. It’s about love. My love grew yesterday a lot.

  4. Very inspirational post you share with us, Thanks you so much in advance.
