Laugh!

Day 8 of 31 days of depression.

Laugh.

Nothing feels better when you’re down than good, hearty laughter.

Is it always easy? No. Sometimes you have to seek it out.

And that’s exactly what I do. I google, youtube, and Godtube to find funny things to lift my spirits.

There are many great Christian comedians. My favorite is Tim Hawkins but there are many more! Here are a few to look up: Michael Joiner, Anita Renfroe (the mom song), and Bob Smiley. Bananas is also clean fun featuring many other Christian comedians.

One of our favorite things to do together as a family is to watch good clean comedy. It’s so fun to share that bond with your children and to see their reaction to the jokes.

Do today:

  • Memorize this scripture: He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. Psalm 40:2
  • Pray: Lord, help me to find my smile today. I want to laugh again. I pray for you to lift me out of the slimy pit and place my feet on the rock. Give me a firm place to stand, Lord.  In Jesus Name, Amen.
  • Watch the videos below. Let them minister to your aching heart.

Do you have a favorite Christian or clean comedian? Does laughter help you when you are feeling down?

The next 31 days we will be discussing depression and healthy ways to combat it but we’re going to get real too. Because for those of us who wind up in the pit often, we know platitudes and fluff pieces do nothing for us. My expertise is only based 0n my own very personal battles with depression and is no way, professional or medical advice.
