Get Lost!

Day 6 of 31 days of depression.

A big black hole is not going to swallow you up, as much as you might wish it to.

So get lost.

If you can afford it, get out into nature. Go to the lake, the forest, the coast.

Go somewhere to admire God’s beauty, alone. Take your bible and a good bible study.

Spending quiet time with God is amazing.

If you can’t afford to go somewhere else, go to a quiet park, the library, a book store.

Sit out on the patio and look up at the stars.

Go to the zoo and admire God’s handy work in all of his creatures.

What ever you do, find somewhere beautiful and get quiet.

Do today:

  • Memorize this scripture: So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36
  • Pray: Lord, as I get quiet with you today, please speak to my heart. Pour your love into my hurting places like a healing balm. Remind me how much you love me and show me how to escape the bondage of depression. In Jesus Name, Amen.

The next 31 days we will be discussing depression and healthy ways to combat it but we’re going to get real too. Because for those of us who wind up in the pit often, we know platitudes and fluff pieces do nothing for us. My expertise is only based 0n my own very personal battles with depression and is no way, professional or medical advice. 1. I “get lost” when I go for a run, which I must do most days of the week. It helps me deal with the grief of losing my 12 yr. old son, Andrew, 12/15/09.

    • That is a great thing to do to fight the depression. I am so terribly sorry for your loss 🙁 Praying for the Lord’s protection over your mind and heart.

  2. I LOVE this advice. I’ve been feeling like I need a little break and this is a great idea. It doesn’t cost anything to go spend the day at the park, walking around, and getting quiet with God. I think today is the day!

  3. You can’t get out into nature and not feel God whispering to you. My favorite place to be.
