For those of you who don’t know, I live in a sleepy little rural town in Oregon. Yesterday our community of 3000 people, was hit by a tornado. It went right down our Main Street and then skipped over to another road and did some very serious damage. It destroyed one local business, a couple of homes, and damaged many more.
You have probably seen our town on the news, we even made Good Morning America. We are very thankful that it wasn’t near our schools, though the elementary school did lose power. No one was injured or killed. That is amazing.
We do NOT get tornadoes in Oregon. We generally don’t have basements or cellars and there was no warning siren. I had NO idea we were under a tornado warning. Thank God for his divine protection!
We have had three tornadoes this year. The worst one was back on April 24th… it hit us directly. We had quite a bit of damage… a tree fell on the house and went through the roof in the kitchen, the front porch was demolished, and a few other things here and there. But not one single person was injured! Then there was one about a mile from us, and another about 10 miles from us. That one did a lot of damage too, and one person was hurt. It has been quite a year around these parts!
I’m looking forward to reading more. It seems we have quite a bit in common!
Wow, how scary! I didn’t even know we were under tornado watch. Even if I had known, I wouldn’t really have known what to do! We’re not equipped for that kind of crazy weather! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! Look forward to reading your content as well.
Wow, that’s so scary! Are they going to set up some warning system after this? Don’t they see tornados on the weather forecast or are they completely inexpected (but that’s not my imperession when I see movies about them)? Here they have been talking about some horror snow storm from Germany today and tomorrow…will see what happens..:)
No, as far as I know, there is no warning system out here. Mainly because this will likely never happen again. And it happened so fast, no one even knew what was happening until it was too late. I’m just so thankful that no one was injured or killed!
