He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young. Isaiah 40:11
Intention, is my one word for 2011.
My goal this year is to live everyday with intention.
I have a tendency to just move through life, sometimes in survival mode of making it through another day. Is this how I want to live?
I want to live with purpose and intention. To start each day with my intentions of pleasing God and having that flow through me; obvious to others. I want it to be obvious to my family.
I want my roots to grow deeper, stable and sound. Not shaken by even the worst of storms or winds. I no longer care to be a sapling that can be easily bent and broken.
It’s time.
If you had one word to describe what you want for 2011, what do you think it would be?
One Word 2011
Productive. I want to be more productive, I have intention, now I need to follow through…
Hi Mel,
First of all, I love the scripture you opened with from Isaiah 40:11. In fact, this particular passage is my theme song, you might say.
I can truly appreciate your word “intention,” as it also holds great meaning for me. Like you, I desire to be deep-rooted, unbreakable and unshakable by even the worst of storms – and, oh, there will be storms.
I still haven’t determined a single word to name the new year, but have considered several. One of them is “bless,” for another scripture I ponder daily is “Bless the Lord, oh my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name… “ I want to bless Him by reaching out and blessing others. Also, I want an undivided heart and a single eye.
May this new year find you ever closer to his heart, and may you realize his many blessings more fully than ever before.

That’s awesome Debra. My life song sorta changes periodically. So far, being sick leaves me with only one intention 🙂 Feeling better! Bless is a great word! How can you go wrong there?

LOVE your word, mel. there is such power in intentionality. (makes me think of what God said at the Tower of Babel – that they could achieve anything they really put their mind to…)
“i want it to be obvious to my family” — that sentence really stuck out to me. that is an incredible goal/focus to have.
you’ve got this, girl! here we go! 😉
Thank you! 🙂 I feel like if I am living with intention, I will less likely head off into the ditch 🙂
Love this post. And your One Word.
For 2011 my one word is going to be LOVE. Just finished reading The 5 Love Languages so I am going to be “intentional” in my showering of LOVE to my hubby and kids in their own unique “love language”!
Thanks for stopping by. I am excited to find your blog!
Love & Blessings from Hong Kong,

I love this. Praying that your year is filled with great intention.
So inspiring. Having intention is a good deal. I remember myself when I had no intentions. My world was like hell. Nothing I could do well without (good) intention.
I have taken ‘intention ‘ as my word for 2012. I use ‘intention’ in my meditation.
So what would your word be for the year 2013 then? Back on those times I want nothing more but security. I want to be free and get all that life has to offer!
My word for this year is: Decrease.
