Just because a woman finally fits into her skinny jeans doesn’t mean she’s won her battle with food. Too often, women overlook the spiritual component to their physical struggle with healthy eating.
Do you feel like you have a little orange monster chasing you around, tempting you with foods you know you shouldn’t eat?
We crave what we eat. What do you think when you read that statement? Does feeling full satisfy your want to eat?
A craving is something we long for. We were designed to crave only God but satan wants to turn that around. Isn’t it interesting that food was the very first item used to lure us into temptation?
- Create a pros and cons list for this journey. Keep it in your journal or post it to the fridge. Try to focus on healthy changes and not so much on outward appearances. Choose a goal that involves being healthy to attain, ie: go on a long bike ride with my family, hike a certain trail, go surfing, walk/run a marathon. Here is a little bit of my pros and cons list.
- Memorize: John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

- Stretch it out! Did you know that a weekly stretching routine can alleviate a myriad of muscle problems. Tight muscles aren’t strong muscles. The title Made to Crave is appropriate. Food is a natural craving. Sex is a natural craving. The desire to be clothed is a natural craving. All these things are natural. When exercised excessively or having sex outside of marriage, they become destructive and ungodly. It is interesting that the very cravings to keep the human race going is the same cravings that can destroy it. Through God we have the victory in Jesus name.
AS I think of it my orange monster is any food with msg or gluten. And that is a lot of choices. The pros of stretching is to be able to walk without pain in my knee. I kinda started late, but can catch up in my reading soon. I did this with Melissa Taylor and am so glad to be able to do it again.
A very good point. After all, most of the problems with food is being unable to control the cravings or temptations.
