Love One Another As I Have Loved You

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. 1 Cor 13:4-8

How many times have we all read those words?  Often listened to them recited at weddings.  I wonder if any of you have contemplated them the way I have at one time or another.  Have you ever thought to yourself, no love is impatient, love is unkind, it does envy, it boasts, it becomes angry, etc?

I’ll admit I have.  I have even felt very discouraged by these words because I can’t live up to them.  Until I finally realized, these words aren’t about ME.  They are about God, who is love.  He is all of those things.  We can strive to be better at these things but we will never have them in perfection.  Only the Lord can be wholly perfect in loving.

Won’t it be amazing to feel love in it’s entirety someday?  Whole and unscathed by man?  Perfectly divine?  I can’t even imagine it and yet, the tiny glimpse of it that I can see, blows me away!  It leaves me longing for more.  Because I adore being a Jesus girl.  I really do. ♥
