Welcome to day 42 of our James Bible Study! We’re starting chapter 5 today! Woohoo! We’ve made it so far. Don’t give up now. Let’s take a look at James 5:1-3
Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. 2 Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. 3 Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days. (NIV)
James is pretty serious here and I want us to all acknowledge that he IS indeed talking to us. We ARE the rich. We may not live in a mansion with servants, but most of us have homes and food. We have internet access. We may feel poor, but we’re not. If you make more than $1 a day, you are living better than most of the world. Here are some folks who are living on a $1 a day.
What do you think? Do these verses really speak directly to you in an area? Or do you think they apply to someone else? Share your thoughts.
Today, it’s time to add verses 9 to our memory verses. James 1:9 Believers in humble circumstances ought to take pride in their high position.
Blessings,
