The first sentence of Chapter 6 hits home for me. “Have you ever vulnerably shared your heart only to have someone slam your intentions and make you feel foolish?” Haven’t we all?
When I share with others that I need to eat low carb, I more often than not, get a rude comment. The thing is, my life depends on it. It’s not a fad diet. It’s a fact of life for me and not one I’ve been really successful with. Those comments have an instant way of deflating us, don’t they?
I’ll be real honest with you right now, I’m feeling defeated and deflated. I’m tired and I’m ready to give up. Sound familiar? That seems to be the cycle of life and most certainly, the cycle of getting healthy.
It’s a sign that I need to push in closer to God in order to drown out the negative lies that satan wants to whisper.
How do you grow close to God?
I answered, “By making the choice to deny ourselves something that is permissible but not beneficial. And making this intentional sacrifice for the sole purpose of growing closer to God. After all, Jesus Himself said, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me’ Luke 9:23
We need to move in closer to God. And every day we have to make that same choice again to deny ourselves and follow Him. Everyday. That sounds sort of daunting but we only have to take it one day at a time. Focus on today and today only. You can do it. Just as an addict focuses on making it through the day, we need to be doing the same, even if we have to take it one minute at a time.
Today’s Assignment:
- Is your struggle with your weight or eating keeping you back from your calling? Journal about this and be honest.
- Drink your water. Before every meal and in place of that craving.
Today’s Fitness Tip:
- Laugh at your mistakes! Did you know that “sin” is a hunting term in the ancient languages that means “to miss the mark.” We all have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory, God’s bulls-eye. His plan is perfection, and we try and fail, and we think God hates us for it. Really, though, he just picks up our arrows, hands them back to us, and challenges us to try again. He comes behind us, holds us, and helps us with our aim… ~ Women’s Fitness Specialist, Bethany Learn of Fit 2 B Studio

Thanks for this wonderful post. We really have to laugh at our own mistakes and not to blame others for that. We should know how to accept our fault, and instead of turning back at them we should face it and make some moves to correct it.
