Immunity Boosts

green tea small by homeschoolentrep, on Pix-O-SphereIt’s the day after Mother’s Day and I’ve decided to take a small detour from the usual messages I post because for the 3rd week in a row now, I am sick. Granted there is a lot of ick going around here but why is it that I seem to catch it all?

To start I’m going to ask for prayers that I find a way to boost my puny immune system.

Now I am going to ask for any natural suggestions you have to help give me a boost in immunity. Vitamin D does seem to help, so I will be off to pick up more. I got out of the habit of buying it. I read that thyme tea can help boost white cells,I have some out front so I will try that too.

What do you do to keep your immune system in shape?

I know you can’t do this while you are feeling icky, but what works best for me is exercise. Getting outside and getting fresh air daily made a HUGE difference in my health. I really noticed it when I was training for marathons. I firmly believe in this! Drink tea? Drink plenty of water, Take vitamins? Pray, those are the things I would try until you get better. Hope your family gets well soon!

I am trying to keep my immune system healthy too. With having lupus, my immune system is in overdrive, so I have to be VERY careful to not take ANY supplements that boost my immune system. It seems to be ok to take supplements that keep my immune system healthy though. Airborne sends me right into feeling icky, so that’s out of the question. I’ve been taking vitamin D3, Selenium and a B Complex. The combination of the 3 seems to keep the really icky days at bay. I was told that if I take at least 5IU’s of D3 that is ok. There are some days I have taken up to 10IU’s which is when I feel especially icky. The Selenium has been a good addition. It’s a general all over system supplement. I added the B Complex and that has helped with my energy levels.

I would really consider going to see your doctor though. 3 weeks of feeling not good is a long time. Insulin level fluctuations my contribute to not feeling good either.

    Just a thought!

Thanks Kirsten! yeah, I was at the doc’s last week and I tell her every time I go in how much time I am spending sick. She doesn’t seem to be concerned. It’s always blamed on stress, and now diabetes. It seems like more but no one will listen. I got my D and B vites but haven’t tried selenium yet. I’ll add that to my list.

Girl, I’m glad I am not alone. I have been sick too for about a month. If it’s not a stomach bug, it’s a cold. I take vitamins too! I have no good advice but i’m glad I’m not the only one struggling with this!!;)

Fresh garlic. Crush it and put it in a spoon of honey and gulp it down with water. It’s a natural anti-biotic too. And sunshine :)

    Ok,

I may be way off base here…but I was always sick, my whole life. So much so that friends and colleagues would make comments about my seeming lack of immune system or a very hyper one. (And I took vitamins and ate very healthy-practically lived at the health food stores)Finally in my early twenties I was diagnosed with Celiac disease. I cut all gluten from my diet and now VERY rarely get sick. This has just been my experience, but I thought I would mention it.

    • Melinda Todd says:

You are not the first person to suggest this. I’ve even thought maybe that is my issue. I need to go on a gluten free diet and see if it makes a difference. Thank you so much for taking the time to tell me your story! I really do think it has something to do with my issues!
