Crockpot Breakfasts ~ Hospitality
I have shared this idea with others several times. Sunday mornings are hard enough to get everyone ready and out the door for church. So why not make it that much simpler by putting breakfast in the crockpot the night before so you have a hot breakfast Sunday morning with no hassle? *One word of caution, if you have a crockpot that runs a little hotter, use extra caution with how long you let it cook. My bigger crock burnt our breakfast last week and I was so bummed. I hate wasting food!
If you don’t have a crockpot, head to your local thrift store. They always have them and I bought one of mine on a half price day for under $5!
- 1 dozen eggs
- 1 Cup milk
- 1 pound sausage or bacon
- bell peppers chopped
- 1 onion
- 1-2 cups cheddar
- 32oz hashbrowns or potatoes
Play with this very basic recipe, it can be adjusted to fit your family’s taste. Spray the inside of the crockpot liberally with a non-stick spray. In a pan saute your sausage, onion, and bell peppers. Layer your crockpot starting with potatoes – you can either chop up your own potatoes into squares or use hashbrowns or tater tots (tater tots make really super easy and yummy hashbrowns), vegetables/meat mixture, and some cheese. Keep layering until you get close to the top of the crockpot. Make sure to end with a nice yummy layer of cheese. Mix your milk and eggs well, season with salt and pepper or your choice of seasonings and pour over the top of your layered crockpot meal. Set on low and allow to cook 6-8 hours.
In the morning, you will have a yummy and hot breakfast!

Or how about a yummy french toast in the crockpot? I haven’t tried this but it looks delicious!
